With the ease at which people can get information these days the Better Business Bureau website must get thousands of hits a day. Obviously, collection agencies are a frequent search and with good matter. Most people have a story or two about debt collectors and their experience(s) with them. The stories on the BBB website would probably have to be so bad to provoke someone to go totally out of their way and jump through a few hoops to tell everyone else their story.

You all will be happy to know that when you report a incident to the BBB they do a pretty good job of letting the agency know about it. More than likely the collector you had an issue with will know as well. However, all involved are aware that this is part of job and if your not pushing your being pushed. You need to remember its not customer service.

From a collector’s point of view you know going in that there is a lot of “grey area” when speaking to a debtor or third-party. The BBB has many stories of collectors crossing the line and that’s great. Holding people accountable is always a good thing and informing others is how business is done these days. Again, not all collectors are unsympathetic and ruthless. If you have a true hardship or your personalty clashes with the people your deal with start moving up the chain and speak to a manager.
